Winter Edition Athletic News
Dear CRUSADER NATION,
The winter sports season is well underway as basketball fever has taken over! With nine teams in action between grades K-12, it certainly is a busy, yet exhilarating time of the year.
The middle school boys basketball program is off to a 5-4 start. This past weekend, the squad traveled to Shawnee, KS to compete in the Hope Holiday Classic; a tournament that featured a varsity of Lutheran schools from Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa. The boys placed fourth and brought home some hardware to show for it (see attached pictures).
The middle school girls have begun their season with a 2-4 record. Led by first year head coach Jordan Jones, the young group is beginning to find its grove as they grow their confidence and skill sets.
The high school girls squad fell short to Eagle Point Christian Academy last night, taking their record to 1-2 on the young season. Led by senior Trinity Blackwell, the Crusaders will look to get back on track when they host Life Christian tonight at 6:00 PM at Immanuel’s gym. With several new additions to the team, second year head coach Darrell Price is working hard to take the girls program to the next level.
After a tough start, the boys high school squad bounced back with three straight wins, beginning their season with a 3-1 record. The current win-streak includes a 51-43 nail-biting and emotional overtime victory over Eagle Point last night. With a deep bench and several three-point threats, the Crusaders are an exciting team to watch.
We hope you will be able to join us for our exciting winter adventures this season. You can catch the Crusaders in action tonight at Immanuel as we host a quadruple header (middle school girls, middle school boys, high school girls, high school boys) at 4:00, 5:00, 6:00 and 7:30 PM respectively).
Be sure to head over to Rhema on Monday, Dec. 16 for another quadruple header with games beginning at 4:30 PM. The high school boys game will feature a brand-new tradition – “Silent Night.” Crusader nation will remain quiet until the boys score their 10th point and then erupt in a frenzy. During the 3rd quarter, Immanuel fans and students will surround the court and sing “Silent Night” while the action continues on the court. You won’t want to miss it!
God’s blessings to you and go CRU!
