Matches Continued!

Our Lady Cru played hard and performed well, entering the MS HCAA conference tournament in Norman. They were seeded 4th for pool play in the 2A section and finished 2nd, winning two sets and coming close in several others. They then played the #3 seed from pool A against Kings Gate and left it all on the court. Down by five at match point, Shafer stepped up to serve, bringing Lady Cru within 2! Kings Gate, with a well-placed hit, secured the win to advance to the next round. Shafer, well deserved, was named to the All-Tournament team after serving 41 aces over the course of 4 games and scoring 61 points. Fleming put up 23 points, 6 from Ace serves. Bence added 17 points with three aces, Hollock knocked down 12 points, served up 5 aces, and had several noteworthy dives. Brock added 8 points, half of which came from ace serves, & Clark snuck on the scoreboard with 4 points in the last game, serving 3 aces. Great season, Lady Cru!

Lady Cru volleyball finished their regular season strong at home over Cornerstone Lady Warriors, winning both the middle and high school matches. At the middle school game, Lady Cru won the first set, Lady Warriors came back to win the second, and Lady Cru won the third set. Nienhuis was the high scorer for the middle school, followed by Fleming, Shafer, Bence, Brock, and Cowan. Fleming served up 6 Aces, Nienhuis 5, Shafer 4, Brock and Cowan each had 2. Lady Cru travels to their HCAA conference tournament this Friday! Good luck, Lady Cru!

In the high school match, everyone had touches on the ball, making the win and point scoring a full team effort. Queen was the lead scorer with 12 points, eight of which came from ace serves. Penka added 8 to the tally, including seven ace serves and a spike.  McCrate and Hughes each put up 7 points, Hughes with six aces and McCrate with 2 aces serves plus three spikes. Nienhuis, Benzel, and Wilson had three aces each. Benzel and Wilson each scored a total of 5 points, 2 points from hits by Benzel and Wilson, with 2 assists. Braun & Pilkington each added 3 points to the Lady Cru score, including an ace by Pilkington and a spike by Braun. Fleming, Gray, and Lowry also scored, and Lowry and Fleming each had five assists and three digs. Great jo,b Lady Cru! High School Lady Cru is also on the road for their next match next week. Middle school volleyball has had three matches over the past week! They played very well at Wright Christian, and the score was quite close in the 1st set; however, the Lady Warriors came out on top, winning the first 2 sets. Bence, Shafer, Hollock, Brock, Nienhuis, and Cowan all made points for Lady Cru. When Liberty Christian showed up this past Friday, they may have taken our middle school by surprise with their serves and abilities, winning both sets. Clark, Fleming, and Nienhuis put up a point for Lady Cru. However, our Lady Cru did not let these losses get them down, and they showed up ready to play at Crossover yesterday, winning both the first and 2nd sets and the match! Bence, Shafer, Fleming, Nienhuis, and Cowan scored for Lady Cru. Shafer, Fleming, and Cowan had ace serves. Lady Cru next faces The Cross on Friday at home!

High School Lady Cru also faced 3 opponents this past week. At Wright Christian, the Lady Warriors won the first set 17-25 and the 2nd set 23-25. Our Lady Cru came back in the 3rd set to hold off a Warrior victory; however, Wright secured the win in the 4th set 12-25. McCrate continues to consistently put up the most points for Lady Cru, this time with 18 points. Penka added 12, Braun 11, Hughes 8, Lowry 7, and Fleming, Queen, Nienhuis, Cowan, and Gray all put up points as well. But none of them do it all alone; Lowry continues to lead in point assists with 9. At the serving line, Penka was the queen of aces with 8, Hughes knocked down 5, McCrate and Lowry each had 4, Braun 2, and Cowan and Gray each had 1. McCrate smashed down 5 spikes, Braun 3, Penka 2, and Lowry and Hughes each with 1.

The next opponent was Liberty Christian at ILCA. Liberty swept the match with Lady Cru scoring 9-11 points in each set. McCrate again with the majority of Lady Cru points with 8. Penka, Queen, and Wilson each added to the tally. Lowry, Penka, and Benzel made assists, Fleming & McCrate had several great digs, and Hughes and Lowry also successfully popped the ball up on a spike or serve by Liberty.
Lady Cru didn't let these losses keep them down as they traveled to Crossover Preparatory, where great rallies, serves, and plays by both teams pushed the match to 5 sets, 2 sets going into extra points. Lady Cru won the 1st set 26-24, Lady Lions snuck in to win the 2nd set 26-28, and the 3rd set 23-25.

Lady Cru dominated the 4th set, winning 25-7, and secured the win in the 5th set 15-10. Highlights from the tight match include beautiful sets by Lowry that lead to smashing spikes by McCrate. McCrate, Fleming, and Nienuis kept the Lady Cru going with excellent serve receives and digs with 5, 3, and 8 digs, respectively. Nienhuis had a standout game, leading the team in ace serves with 8 and excelling at the net, knocking down several overpasses by the Lady Lions. McCrate held high scorer with 21, Nienhuis put up a personal high of 18, Penka added 16, Braun 8, Lowry 6, Queen 5, Cowan 4, and Gray 1 point to the Lady Cru score. Penka, McCrate, Queen, Cowan, Lowry, and Braun also served up aces. Lowry set 13 assists. Great jo,b Lady Cru! Next match is Friday for SENIOR NIGHT when the Lady Cru take on The Cross Christian!

Back-to-back nights for Lady Cru Volleyball last week, with exciting games both nights! Thursday, our Lady Cru will face the Claremore Lady Warriors. Middle school came close in both sets but fell just short of the win. Shafer had another standout serving and scoring game. Nienhuis, Cowan, Fleming, Clark, and Hollock also added to the Lady Cru score, and all but Clark had ace serves. Clark & Bentz really stepped it up on serve receive!

In the High school JV match versus the Lady Warriors, our Lady Cru showed their hard work and improvement at this point in the season, but the Lady Warriors again came out victorious. Fleming, Cowan, Niehuis, Gray, Wilson, and Benzel had several great rallies, ace serves, and an overall great effort.

Varsity Lady Cru left it all on the court. The first set, they showed they were ready to play and came close to setting the Lady Warriors, but were just shy at 18-25. In the next 2 sets, the Warriors dominated and ended the match in their favor. The sets included some great plays and rallies, but the ball ended in Crusader territory too many times. McCrate scored 8 points, had 2 ace serves, five spikes, an assist, and 4 digs. Penka put up 5 points, knocked down a pair of aces and spikes each, and had six digs. Braun added 4 points to the Crusader tally, including a spike, three blocks, a tip, and also had three digs and 4 assists. Hughes snuck on the scoreboard after a great dig. Lowry, Hughes, and Queen also each had an assist.

On Friday, our Lady Cru faced Cookson Hills Lady Chargers for the 3rd time this season. JV Lady Cru again showed some great rallies and plays, including ace serves by Nienhuis, Cowan, Gray, and Wilson. Bentz also got on the scoreboard with several nicely placed bumps, and Fleming had a pair of nice serves and an assist. Despite this, the Lady Chargers took charge of the court and won both sets and the match, although both sets were quite close!

In the Varsity match, Lady Cru was looking to defend its court after winning in an early-season tournament and a second time at Cookson for a regular-season match. It seems that home court is not an advantage for these two teams, although Lady Cru won the first set 25-19, Cookson came back to win the next three sets 22-25, 14-25, and 22-25. McCrate scored 23 points, including six aces serves, a season high nine spikes, two standout blocks, six assists, and a season high nine digs. Penka put up 11 points, including five ace serves, two spikes, an assist, and had 4 digs. Queen added 10 points, including six ace serves, 4 tips, and three assists. Braun had 8 points, including an ace, a standout block, two tips, three assists, and two digs. Lowry, just behind her with 7 points, had three ace serves, 10 assists, and three digs. Hughes and Cowan snuck on the scoreboard with an ace serve by Cowan and a hit by Hughes.

Lady Cru goes on the road on Tuesday to Wright Christian this week and will be back on Friday for a PINK OUT home game v. Liberty Christian. Let's Go Lady Cru!

Lady Cru Volleyball played at Owasso Prep on Tuesday, September 16. In the middle school match, Lady Cru came out strong and won the 1st set. The Lady Eagles made some adjustments and won the 2nd set. The 3rd set was a close one with several great rallies and plays. The Lady Eagles came out victorious. Shafer and Nienhuis were the top scorers for the Lady Cru, with Bentz and Cowan just a point behind. Flemming and Hollock also added to the Crusader tally. Shafer and Cowan each had three ace serves, while Shafer, Flemmig, and Hollock each had noteworthy digs. Nienuis had a block....

In the High School match, OPA swept all 3 sets; however, Lady Cru were competitive in each set. McCrate was the leading scorer with 12 points, including seven from ace serves, 2 spikes, and a block. Penka scored 5 points, 3 from ace serves, a spike, and at least 1 noteworthy dig. Braun and Gray each added 2 points to the Lady Cru tally. Braun had a spike, two blocks, and a notable tip over. Gray had 2 ace serves. Hughes and Cowan each scored a point, and Fleming had two noteworthy digs.

Volleyball hosted Eagle Point Lady Eagles this past Tuesday, September 9. In their last match-up, the Middle School Lady Eagles won in 2 sets, and the High School Lady Cru won in 3. In this match-up, the Middle School Lady Cru won the 1st set, the Lady Eagles came back to win the next, pushing that match to a 3rd set, in which the Lady Eagles were victorious. Shafer and Bentz led the team in points scored with 11 and 8, respectively, each serving up four aces. Nienhuis set up the most assists as well as an ace serve. M Flemmings, Hollock, and Brock each added to the Lady Cru tally and served aces......

The High School Match started with points back and forth in a tight score into the teens until the Lady Cru pulled away, winning the 1st set 25-14. Lady Cru maintained control for most of the 2nd set, winning 25-17. Coach Hood looked to get all players some time on the court in the 3rd set, during which the Lady Eagles' serving Ace gave Lady Cru quite a struggle to return her serves. Lady Eagles won the  3rd set 10-25. After gaining some momentum in the 3rd set, the Lady Eagles kept the 4th set much closer, taking the lead for part of the set but Lady Cru were victorious after a 5 serve streak by Braun putting Lady Cru back in the lead and several bump, set, spike plays by Penka, Braun, Lowry and McCrate, McCrate for the set and match point, 25-22. McCrate leads the team in scoring with 16 points, followed by Braun and Penka with 11 points each. Flemming tops the team in assists, closely followed by Nienhuis. Penka served up eight ace serves, Braun 6, McCrate 5, Hughes and Gray each 3, and Lowry snuck in 1. Lady Cru takes to the road for their next match on Friday v. Tyro Christian.

Lady Cru volleyball was in action this past Thursday, September 4, v. Owasso Preparatory Lady Lions. In the middle school game, our Lady Cru again put some 3-touch plays together with several great servers. The Lady Lions answered back and won both sets. JV Lady Cru had a home court appearance and scored 9 points in the 1st set and 15 in the 2nd set, but the Lady Lions were again victorious. For our Varsity Lady Cru, McCrate was the high scorer, with Penka leading with ace serves, and Lowry leading in assists. Braun, Flemming, and Cowan also added to the Lady Cru tally. Lady Lions swept the varsity match as well. Come cheer on the Lady Cru again at home on Tuesday, 5:30/6:30 pm as they take on Eagle Point Lady Eagles!

Lady Cru took on the Mercy Lady Mustangs in Volleyball at ILCA Friday night, August 29. In the Middle School Game, Shafer and Nienhuis led their team in points each with 12 points over the course of 3 sets. Shafer served up 11 aces, and Nienhuis 10. Lady Cru dominated the first set; however, a power server for Mercy stepped up, winning the Lady Mustangs the second 2 sets and the match. Flemming with 3, Clark with 2, and Cowan with 1 also each put up points for the Lady Cru with ace serves.

In the High School Match, Penka led the team in points after playing all 4 sets, scoring 12 of her 18 points on ace serves. McCrate and Braun each played 3 of the 4 sets and put up 14 points. Lady Cru won the 1st and 2nd sets 25-14. Mercy's Power server gave the Lady Cru some trouble in the 3rd set, which the Lady Mustangs won 22-25. McCrate knocked down 8 ace serves, had 4 spikes, 4 assists, and a block. Hughes served 5 of her seven serves as aces and had three assists and a tip for 7 points. Lowry led the team in assists with six and also had three ace serves. Braun also served three aces, had 4 spikes, three assists, a dig, and 4 well-placed tips for scores. Cowan snuck in 3 points with 3 of her 4 serves as aces. Wilson and Gray each added 2 points, and Benzel, Pilkington & Flemming each tipped the ball into Mustang territory for a point; Pilkington & Flemming also with a dig. Lady Cru pulled out the win over the Lady Mustangs in the 4th set again 25-14.

Our Lady Cru faced the Cookson Hills Chargers at Cookson Hills on Tuesday, August 26. In the JV match, Cookson edged out our Lady Cru at the end of the 1st set 25-27. Over the course of the two sets, Flemming was the leading scorer with 5 points, including an ace, spike, assist, dig, tip, and bump over. Pilkington put up 4 points, starting the set with 4 aces. She also had 3 assists and a dig. Benzel added 3 points, including 2 aces and a tip, and Gray and Wilson each added 2 points to the tally. Cookson really took charge in the 2nd set as the Lady Cru, with their 1st JV match, worked to communicate. The Chargers won the set and the game.

In the Varsity match of the Lady Cru v. the Lady Chargers, Lady Cru won the 1st set 25-21 as the Chargers came close to coming back, but a few great serve receives by McCrate, sets by Lowry, and spikes by McCrate, Queen, and finally the set point tip by Braun. Lady Cru dominated most of the following two sets, but the Lady Chargers didn't go down easily. In the 2nd set, Lady Cru won 25-20, and in the 3rd set, Lady Cru won 25-19, sweeping the sets and winning the match. McCrate again was the lead scorer with 20 points over the three sets, 11 of which came from ace serves.  Penka and Braun each had 10 points. Penk slapped down seven ags and Braun 3. Braun had 3 spikes and 3 assists, and Penka kept the ball alive with at least 3 noteworthy digs. Lowry and Hughes put up 4 points, with 2 of those as ace serves for Hughes. Lowry led the team in assists with seven and also had two digs. Queen with 3 points, including an ace, a spike, and a dig. Flemming made her presence known on the court in the 3rd set with an assist and two digs. Nice win, Lady Cru!

Our Lady Cru took on the Eagle Point Lady Eagles this past Friday, August 22, in volleyball. A strong effort by the Middle School Lady Cru showcased moments of great potential despite their inexperience. On offense, Bence delivered four strong serves in the first game, while Shafer added three powerful serves in the first game and another in the second. Cowan was a standout in the second game with five well-placed serves. On defense, Raleigh was crucial, making a number of excellent passes from the back row. Despite being unable to break two impressive serving streaks by the Lady Eagles, the team demonstrated excellent teamwork, highlighted by several "three-hit" plays. The Lady Eagles were victorious over our Lady Cru, winning both sets.
High School Lady Cru volleyball started strong v. the Lady Eagles, taking the first set 25-21. McCrate dominated the offensive side, contributing 20 points over the course of the night, including eight service aces and a combination of 7 tips/pushes and 3 spikes. Penka and Queen also displayed powerful serving throughout the match, recording 6 and 5 aces respectively. Queen kept the serve for 6 in a row in the 2nd set, helping the Lady Cru take the lead after getting down. The second set was a close battle, with the Lady Cru ultimately prevailing 26-24, sealed by a crucial ace from Braun. Queen led the team in assists with 6, showcasing her setting and digging abilities. Lowry added 5 points over the night with a spike and 3 tips, and Braun had 5 points, including an ace, two spikes, and two assists. Flemmings had 3 nice serves, including an ace; Hughes had 5 great serves and an assist; Cowan served up an ace; Gray added 3 points, including 1 assist & 2 spikes; and Wilson got her 1st varsity minutes and put up 3 points, including an ace. The Lady Cru closed out the match in the third set, winning 25-22, securing the victory over the Lady Eagles.

Thanks so much to all the fans who came out to support our Lady Cru as they took on Tyro Christian! Middle School Lady Cru came ready to play! Bence was reaching left, right, high, and low to keep the ball up. Fleming served up several aces and set Cowan, Shafer, and Nienhuis for hits and tips. Clark's serves were consistent, and it was overall a great effort by all! Tyro also came out hard and swept both the 1st & 2nd sets for the win.

High School Lady Cru struggled to return the first few serves by Tyro as Tyro started and kept the lead in the 1st set to win 25-14. The 2nd set started off in favor of the Lady Cru with great service by McCrate. Tyro answered back with a serving streak if their own. McCrate came up to serve again. Lady Cru was down 11-18. McCrate served 9 straight Aces, bringing Lady Cru into the lead! McCrate and Braun blocked, dug, bumped, set & spiked. Penka & Queen swept the floor, diving for balls, and overall, it was a great effort by all. Tyro came back to win 26-24 in the 2nd set. Despite several great offensive and defensive plays by the Lady Cru in the 3rd set, Tyro came through to sweep the Match and the night, winning 25-12. Keep your heads up, Lady Cru, as we look to Friday, traveling to Sapulpa to take on Eagle Point.
