Updated MS/HS electives! Please read!

18 July 2025

Parents,

We hope this summer is treating you well. It is flying by for us here at the office! We look forward to seeing you all on August 11 for our Open House and your students on August 13 for the first day of school. Over the past several weeks, we have instituted changes that will affect students’ course selections. We need students to fill out new elective forms by July 18 to ensure that schedules are ready for Open House. Read about three of our new courses below!

Sports and Introduction to Sports Medicine will be offered during the last hour and will primarily be taught by Certified Athletic Trainer Anna Braun, who also serves as Athletic Director and Girls’ Basketball Coach at ILCA, with occasional instruction provided by other sports coaches and medical professionals. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, students are expected to be active and wear their PE uniform. Activities will include sports skills such as volleyball, basketball, and running, as well as exercises to develop strength and flexibility. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students may wear their regular school uniform, as learning will consist of more classroom/lab activities, introducing students to sports medicine. Students will learn how to tape an ankle, recognize and treat basic injuries, and implement basic injury prevention techniques.

Additionally, when course forms were initially sent out last semester, we had planned on offering a swim class at the Broken Arrow Boys and Girls Club; however, unfortunately, the Salvation Army closed. However, Coach Clark has an excellent alternative for our students. Students can take a biblically focused martial arts class.  Coach Clark is teaching Christian Tang Soo Do Karate, at the Christian Karate facility during the eighth hour. This course will incur a monthly cost of $20, in addition to a one-time uniform cost of $35. If selected by the student, charges will be billed through FACTS. Not only will students learn Karate with the opportunity for belt advancement, but students can also participate in tournaments if desired.  (Belt testing and tournaments are optional and may require additional fees.)

Lastly, we are expanding our Band program this year, offering band to students in 8th-12th grade.  We are thrilled for the addition to our Fine Arts program under the direction of Rebecca Winston..

Our students will greatly benefit from both academic and personal growth with the addition of our new offerings. What an exciting year 25-26 promises to be! Click on the links below that correspond to your student’s grade level and choose courses for each elective hour. Please make the selections by July 25 to ensure your child(ren)’s schedule is available when you arrive at Open House.
