Summer Camp 2024

Scroll down for weekly info and photos!

Learning NEVER stops, so there are plenty of opportunities each day for young minds to grow.  Occasionally, inclement weather will necessitate the cancellation of outside activities and/or trips. Our staff plans for these with fun indoor games, movie days, and other fun activities.  Our staff is First Aid and CPR certified.

Week 10 - Last week of camp - heading to Lutherhoma Wednesday!

Week 9 - The Air and Space Museum, pool, science, and more!

Good Afternoon Parents,
.
We are thankful for a brief cool-down from the heat! Campers enjoyed playing outside, especially with the inflatables. Our Aquarium Field Trip was a blast.      This week, we will tour the Air and Space Museum, which is always a great experience, along with going to the pool and rocking it out with Science!
Having your campers with us this summer has been a pleasure, and we're down to our last two weeks. As the weather warms up, we may have more water days. Please ensure your campers have a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and water daily.
We're looking forward to making the most of our remaining time together and our planned exciting activities. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Week 8 - The Aquarium, Yoga, and More!!!

Good Afternoon Parents,
We had an enjoyable and exciting week at camp! First, we went to the pool to swim. Then we played games at Geaux's, where the campers had a chance to see another side of the place. We usually don’t watch movies, although I understand that a few campers enjoyed seeing Lilo and Stitch ????. We also had water day and science. The campers made rock candy. It wasn't ready to take home on Friday, but hopefully, it will be on Monday.
Despite a setback with our bus driver, who unfortunately had an accident last week and will be unable to continue driving for us, we look forward to an exciting week ahead. We have a thrilling day planned with inflatables on Tuesday, so please ensure your camper has a swimsuit and towel. I've arranged for a new driver to take us to the aquarium on Wednesday as planned. The campers can look forward to a water day and Yoga on Thursday. I'm eagerly anticipating another fun-filled week at camp!
Having your campers with us this summer has been a pleasure, and we're down to our last three weeks. As the weather warms up, we may have more water days. Week 6 Info - Short Week, Fourth of July!!!!

Good Afternoon Parents,

What a week we have had ????!!  I appreciate your patience through all the crazy events.

First, no other lice cases have been reported to camp this week, so I believe we are in the clear. If you have concerns for your camper, you can wash their hair with tea tree oil or use a hair dryer. These are excellent home remedies for lice.

I know the campers were excited to go to the Aquarium this week. Unfortunately, the Aquarium lost power during the storm on Wednesday, so we went to the movie theater instead.  Campers acted like champions with the change and enjoyed the movie. I have rescheduled the aquarium trip for week 7, July 17th. I know it will be a great visit!

Campers also had fun this week with soccer shots, science - creating snow and eating ice cream, and water day with our new slip-n-slide ????!

Next week is Monday through Wednesday, and we have an exciting short week planned, with water fun every day. From water day on Monday to the pool on Tuesday and water inflatables on Wednesday, your campers are in for a treat. Please ensure they have a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, water bottle, and lunch daily.

Check the lost and found when you drop off or pick up your camper. We are getting a large selection of water bottles, sunscreen, towels, and a few swimsuits and shirts.

Thank you for entrusting your campers with us. We're having a fantastic summer and are grateful for your support. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Week 5 Info - Change of venue update

Due to power outages in Jenks, the aquarium is closed. The campers are going to Geaux Theater to watch Minions and have popcorn and a drink instead. I will try to reschedule a visit to the aquarium on July 17th.

Week 5 Info - Important Notice: Discovery of Head Lice at Summer Camp

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you that we were notified today of a case of headlice discovered over the weekend, which affected one or more students who attend our summer camp. Please rest assured that we are taking proactive measures to address this situation promptly and effectively.

Today, our volunteer parish nurse (RN) conducted routine checks of all camp participants in accordance with our health and safety protocols. We encourage you to continue to monitor your camper(s) hair for the next several days.

In accordance with our camp's policy and guidelines established by the ILCA Board of Trustees, students identified with active cases of head lice will need to be treated before returning to camp activities. Once treated, regardless of number of treatments, a student must be free of nits or lice before returning to camp. This policy aims to ensure the well-being and comfort of all our campers.

If your child has been identified with head lice, you will receive a separate communication outlining the necessary steps for treatment and guidelines for returning to camp. We understand this may cause concern, and we are committed to supporting affected families through this process.

As always, the health and safety of our campers remain our top priority. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to maintain a healthy environment for all participants.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Blessings,
Stephanie Hipskind

Week 3 Info - Monday, June 10

Good Afternoon Parents!
We have had an excellent second week of camp. We enjoyed swimming, yoga, and going to the movie theater.  Campers had a great time.

Next week, the field trip will be to the Drillers, cheering on the baseball. We will leave campus and return around 3:30. Campers will have lunch and water provided for them. There is a splash pad, and please send your campers in shoes that can get wet. We will leave our shoes on the whole time! ????

Reminders:
  • Please send your camper with a swimsuit and towel every day. As the summer heats up, the best way to beat the heat is to use the sprinklers. Weather permitting, we plan to have water day every Thursday at the very least.
  • We do not allow toys for home. Toys tend to get lost or broken.
  • Please visit the Lost & Found section of the Sign In/Out table. We have lots of sunscreen being left with us.
  • Parent emails and pics are also available on this website - click HERE.
Lastly, we are making a field trip change:
Week 7- July 10th: This field trip is changing to Geaux's for games and pizza. This venue provides a self-contained space and lots of fun games campers can play the whole time we are there. Games include Mini golf, Nerf wars, Splatter paint, Karaoke, and more.
Thank you for sharing your campers with us this summer!

Week 2 Info - Monday, June 3

Hello Parents,

We are thrilled to share that our campers had an absolute blast during the first week of camp! They had a splashing good time with water play and inflatables on Wednesday. Thursday was a day filled with popcorn fun, from watching it pop with an air popper to crafting and even conducting popcorn science experiments. It was a joy to see their excitement and engagement.

Get ready for an action-packed week ahead! On Tuesday, our campers will have a whale of a time at the BA Boys and Girls Club swimming. We will also delve into the art of origami and visit the Geaux Movie Theater to watch the Little Rascals. They can look forward to enjoying popcorn and a drink while having a great time with their friends.

The was a math error on the enrollment form.  The costs for campers are as follows:

  • 1st camper $180.00
  • 2nd camper 10%  $162.00
  • 3rd Camper 10% $146.00

Going forward, I will use these numbers for camp fees. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you so much for sharing your campers with us this week. I loved seeing the old faces and meeting some new ones. Have a great weekend, and I'll see you next week.
