Friday, May 1st – Field Day Information

On Friday, May 1st, Immanuel students in grades 1st-10th will be traveling to First Lutheran School in Ponca City for the annual Oklahoma Lutheran Schools Field Day.  10th-grade students will assist with the relay race and other activities as needed.  At this event, ILCA students will compete with other Lutheran school students in academic and track/field events.  6th-10th grade students will be taking the bus to Ponca City. We will need parent drivers for the 1st-5th grade students.

What is Field Day?

Each school year in May, students in grades 1-9th compete in track, field, and academic events with students in grades 1-9  from other Lutheran schools in Oklahoma.  First Lutheran School in Ponca City hosts this all-day event.  It is a day filled with fun and Christian fellowship, not only with our own ILCA family but with other Lutheran school families in the state. The students sign up and practice for their events during PE with Coach Clark.

What do I need to do before Field Day?

We need parents to volunteer to drive students in grades 1-5 to this event.  We may also need parent volunteers to help run the track and field events our school is responsible for leading.  If you would like to drive or help with a field event, please let your child’s classroom teacher know as soon as possible.

What do I need to bring or send with my child to Field Day?

Parents who have volunteered to drive are asked to bring a cooler to hold the students’ lunches and drinks for those being transported in their cars. If you are not driving, your child will need to bring a sack lunch, sunscreen, plenty of water, and snacks. Students may also bring money for concessions.

What will my child need to wear to Field Day?

Students will need to wear school-appropriate athletic shorts/pants with their field day t-shirt and athletic shoes. Coach Clark sent an email to parents for ordering field day t-shirts. Place field day t-shirt order. The last day to place an order for field day t-shirts is Thursday, April 16th.
