Fall clubs update, eGaming, and our phone App

Hi Everyone,

Well, summer has definitely made itself known!  I am excited to give an update on our fall Student Opportunities.

First off, eGaming: I just toured TU’s Computer Simulation and eGaming facilities, discussing how we could structure an afterschool program for MS/HS students this fall and what supports TU can offer us.  You know me, I could talk forever so here is the gist – I was thinking once a week in the afternoon 3:30 – 4:30/5 pm using our school Chromebooks.  Weeks would alternate gaming one week and game design/development the next.  These would be web browser-based games.

In the spring (2023), students can register for the Computer Simulation and Gaming Conference held in April.  It is free and open to all ages.  2023’s theme is Sustainability.  What is neat is TU is thinking about restarting their graduate student outreach program (shut down by Covid) where a TU student would come out in the spring and work with our afternoon student group, creating web browser-based games which they can showcase and compete against at the Conference.  I don’t know if some of you are familiar with ReWind eSports in Broken Arrow, but I will reach out to them as well for collaboration.

What I would love is for a parent, Dad or Mom, to oversee the weekly after-school eGaming open to all interested MS/HS students.  (Yes, Moms game, too!  My first gaming experience was Doom back in like 1994 if I remember right.)  You would definitely have backup sport from me and I am tagging Mr. Risner and Mrs. Marshall as I am sure they have great ideas as well.  If you are interested, please reach out to me for more details.

TU still has open spots for next week’s camp – check for more information on their website.  I was able to watch MS students game this afternoon with state-of-the-art equipment.

Secondly, please take a look at how our Student Opportunities ideas have grown.  Scroll through the page to see Before, After, and Behind the scenes club concepts all still a work in progress.  If you have an idea, please reach out!

Lastly, I am updating our phone app with current information, you may have already been asked to update on your end.  If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or issues, I’d love to hear them.

Whew!  ????
