  • Activities: Silent Dinner and other community events
  • Expectations: Students will engage in respectful conversation to learn about Deaf culture. They will come to club meetings ready to learn basic conversational skills in ASL.

Leadership

  • Purpose: Students can tangibly see how they can be leaders in their own worlds, to assist and support their school.  Bridges the STUCO gap and is a sought-after addition to college transcripts.
  • Activities: Decorate for school dances, set up for pep assemblies, greet students when they walk in the door, the list can be endless and such a help for the school and church.
  • Expectations: Students are required to have a teacher recommendation, attend every meeting, and participate in activities.

Possibilities for Fall 2022

Results of our Student Activities Survey.  See tentative fall schedule in blue below.

Most responses: eGaming Club

Tied for 2nd were four ideas:

Future Teacher’s Club
Speech/Debate Club
Home Economics Club
Bible Quiz Club

3rd - ASL Club (very close to the above 4)

Out of other suggestions, it was resoundingly - Cooking Club!

I'd still like to see an after-school Legos Club for ES as well (or maybe for me, I love legos, lol).

Parents - If you are interested in leading/helping with a Club, please reach out to me (Ginger Hendricks, ghendricks@icaba.org) and we can discuss logistics: timing (once, twice a week/month, etc.), background checks, etc. Then by the beginning of August, we can share for the new year, what will be offered and when.  I would love to see all of these clubs up and running.  🙂

Super excited for next year and very thankful we can come back together as a community post-covid and focus on relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff.

Have a wonderful summer,
