Here is this week’s Crusader Chronicles
Talent Show is Thursday, May 10th at 1:30pm.
The Explorers class is for younger toddlers, anywhere from 14 to 28 months. These children are beginning to explore their world and their independence. They begin eating in the cafeteria for lunch and they begin attending weekly chapel with the older children. The teachers complete lesson plans which include daily art, music, science, Bible, and play times. They are learning to feed their pet fish and water their classroom plants, and they are working on their social and emotional skills. These children are also included in our annual Christmas and Graduation programs, held in the evenings. Hearing them sing Jesus Loves Me and watching them do introductory sign language is enough to melt one’s heart. :)
The ratio for this class is 1:6. This class can have 11 children with two teachers daily.
The teachers for the Explorers class are as follows:
Mrs. Letitia Rohwer has worked at ILCAP since May 2009. She began with the 3-year-olds, but moved to the toddlers and found a great team with Miss Ashley! She has her Child Development Associate Degree and has worked with children for many years. She has two children of her own, one who attends the preschool and one who is currently in kindergarten at ILCA. She and her family also attend Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Miss Ashley Kendrick has been working at ILCAP since April 2008. She is here from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday. She attends Tulsa Community College also. She has worked with the older children as well, but found her passion with the little ones.
Miss Meghan Blocher works in the Explorers in the afternoons from 3:00 p.m.-6:0o p.m. She is currently a Senior at Broken Arrow High School, and plans to persue an education degree, beginning with TCC in the Fall. She is active in the youth group here at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and loves her toddlers!
Miss Ashton Hardison also works with the Explorers class from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. She is also a senior at Broken Arrow, and works very well with her friend Miss Meghan. She has a passion for these little ones, and has experience with her young sister at home. :)
