Vocal Music Curriculum

Kindergarten – 2nd Grades
Students will make a joyful noise to the Lord! Objectives include: Explore sound through singing, moving, listening and playing rhythmic instruments, as well as introductory experiences with verbalization and visualization of musical ideas. Participate in all school musical productions and concerts. Perform in various school, church and community events.

3rd Grade – 5th Grades
Students will make a joyful noise to the Lord! Objectives include: Explore music by singing, moving and listening. Identify and utilize the basic tools of music theory: rhythm, pitch, melody, harmony, notation, diction, and timbre. Students will sing alone and with others in a diverse repertoire of music. Participate in all school musical productions and concerts. Perform in various school, church and community events. Connect with skills learned in instrumental music class.

6th-8th Grades
Students will make a joyful noise to the Lord! Objectives include: Explore music by singing, moving and listening. Identify and utilize the intermediate tools of music theory: harmony & chords, rhythm, pitch, dynamics, notation, articulation and tonality. Students will sing alone and with others utilizing proper breathe support. Participate in all school musical productions and concerts. Perform in various school, church and community events. Connect with skills learned in instrumental music class.
