BA in Ele. Ed and Art Ed. Asbury University, Wilmore, KY 19+ years teaching experience in Art K-12, Elementary Grades K-8, Art & Music in Special Education, and Preschool in 5 states and Irian Jaya, Indonesia.
I have also worked as an Interior Decorator, Children’s photographer and Hobby Lobby Arts and Craft’s demonstrator/teacher. I give private and group art lessons and am the co-creator of SASSY Art.
All classes will study and include the following:
Elements of Art – Line, color, form, shape, texture, value and space.
Principles of Design – Rhythm, balance, contrast, movement, emphasis, unity and pattern.
Art History – Specific Artists, styles and periods of art will be highlighted each month and various art techniques will be modeled, studied and evaluated for inspiration.
Art Medium – Drawing, painting, printmaking, papermaking, weaving, ceramics, sculpture, collage, photographer, computer graphic design and various mixed media in 2 and 3 dimensions.
Students will be encouraged to develop an awareness of the possibilities within themselves and the beauty of God’s wonderful creation.
We will be experiencing art in many forms, developing skills with different media and techniques and appraising both their own art and that of others. Positive participation is expected and we will build confidence in creativity through practice and praise.
Art surrounds us everyday. It can be found in the style of clothes we wear, the design of the car we drive, the color of the sunset or the texture of the bark on the trees in our yard. I look forward to helping your child discover new ways to see art in all its diversity and praise God through creativity, imagination and their own unique personal artistic expression.
We will have so much fun that I would like to invite you to be a part of the process…if you would like to help (especially with the messier projects!) please let me know and I’ll be sure to call you when we need an extra pair of hands. We will also be using many “recycled” resources and need your help in securing them. Watch the school newsletter for what we will be using each month and ‘reduce, recycle and reuse’ with us.
